VTSoC Chair 2024 Prof Navin Kumar

IEEE VTS Bangalore is one of the youngest chapters in Bangalore Section. I am very humble to society members who have shown extreme support for me and given opportunity to lead the society. On members request, I continue to chair the society for 2024 as well.

I would like to thank our ExCom and members for their support. We grew from 35 members to over 365 members, a ten fold growth in last 3 years. We have now 3-student branch chapter (SBC) which shows the interest in students about the society. Our plan for this year is to cross 400 marks which is very well achievable.

Our team crafts well planned events catering for different grades of membership from arranging and helping students to prepare for placement to engaging Fellow and Senior Member professionals to mentor and offer guest/invited lecture in colleges, conferences. On an average, we conduct over 20 very good events annually.

There have been many initiatives in this chapter. One of the unique initiatives during 2023 is the inauguration of the Special Interest Group (SIG) at industry premises. It is like a student branch in the industry location. Two such SIGs were inaugurated in 2023 under industry hub and engagement program from the section. One of the SIGs, VTS SIG TVS Motor and VTS SIG Harman International. While TVS motor has identified one of the areas to work is Advanced Rider Assistant System (ARAS), Harman International is working on Software Defined Vehicle. Expert members from IEEE and industry working together to bring many solutions in this area. (Anyone who is interested in this area can reach out to us and get connected to the team). I would like to thank Dr Aloknath De, our Section chair (2023) who supported and helped us in forming this.

Another very interesting initiative is starting the flagship annual conference from 2024. The International Conference on Vehicular Technology and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ICVTTS) is planned in Sep 2024. We believe this conference will generate more interest in professionals from industry and student communities.
